Summary
Manage necessary site storage and the optional first-party story-metrics choice; optional metrics stay off unless you opt in and the deployment enables collection.
Steps
- Open the privacy banner or sign in and go to Settings → Privacy choices.
- Read the event and retention explanation before turning optional story metrics on; necessary account and security storage is handled separately.
- Save your choice and wait for the confirmation message so you know it was recorded.
- To withdraw later, return to the same control, turn metrics off, and save; withdrawal stops future optional collection.
What to expect
- The only optional story events are opens, reading starts, chapter reads, and completions, aggregated as daily counts by public story.
- Creators can see counts for their own published stories; platform-wide totals are restricted to an authorized administrator. Counts are not linked to accounts or sessions.
- No advertising, marketing analytics, or third-party analytics vendor is used. Production collection is disabled by default; enabled staging retention is no more than 30 days.
Troubleshooting
- If the choice does not remain after reload, check that your browser allows necessary site storage and save the preference again.
- If you withdrew consent but see a privacy concern, note the page, time, and visible choice state and contact Privacy Support.
- Do not confuse your separate reading progress with optional analytics: progress helps you resume a story and is not used to rank Explore.
